GRHC 2025 EVENT PROGRAM

In 2025, Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) will be hosting six Regional Grey to Green Conferences. These events will take place in both established and emerging green infrastructure markets, offering localized learning opportunities and connections that reflect the unique environmental and urban challenges of each region.

Each Grey to Green Conference will spotlight cutting-edge technologies, design practices, and policy advancements that drive the adoption of green roofs, living walls, and stormwater management solutions. Attendees will have the chance to engage with industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers through dynamic workshops and inspiring keynotes. By creating opportunities for direct engagement at a local level, GRHC aims to foster practical policies and programs that result in the increased use of green roofs, walls and other forms of green infrastructure

The 2025 event program underscores GRHC’s commitment to growing the green infrastructure movement and making its benefits accessible to more communities. These regional conferences will enable deeper connections, foster collaboration, and highlight best practices that are shaping the future of sustainable urban development. Hands on Green Roof Installation and Maintenance Professional (GRIMP) training opportunities will be available prior to several Grey to Green events, and as stand alone events in several cities. Stay tuned for updates on conference locations, dates, and programming as we prepare for a transformative year in green infrastructure advocacy and education.

The Green Roof Infrastructure Network of BC (GRIN) is pleased to collaborate with Van Dusen Botanical Gardens to deliver Green Roofs 101 in September.

Delivered over three Saturdays by a number of subject matter experts, the 18-hour course provides students with a thorough understanding about green roofs as multi-functional tools that can support biodiversity, while also capturing stormwater runoff at source, insulating buildings, protecting the building envelope, cooling the urban heat island, and suppressing fire.

The course is evidence-based and draws from current research and case studies. Through a combination of lectures and discussions, students will integrate theoretical knowledge with practical hands-on design experience.

At the 2025 Regional Grey to Green Conferences, we will be exploring the most recent green infrastructure science, economic valuation, asset management, public policy, technologies, and best practices in design, installation and maintenance. Our goal is to help inform the current policy debate by making the case for a rapid and significant increase in green infrastructure investment, a trend thatʼs now occurring worldwide.
