grp140x100

The ongoing maintenance of GRP accreditation demonstrates that GRPs are keeping up to date with rapidly changing industry trends, technologies and best practices.

In order to maintain accredited status, GRPs must satisfy the following requirements :

  • Renew annual GRHC Individual or Individual Affiliate Membership
  • Remit an annual GRP renewal fee of $47.50 US
  • Obtain and report 16 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within two years of the date they wrote the exam (or within two years of their most recent renewal date)

For more information download the Green Roof Professional (GRP) Benefits package or see below.

How to Renew

As of January 1, 2011, all GRPs are required to be GRHC Individual ($160 US annually) or Individual Affiliate ($100 US annually) Members in good standing.

Memberships can be renewed online by logging into greenroofs.org and selecting Member Login from the toolbar at the top. Once you have entered your username and password under Member Options> My Profile, click the "Purchase Membership" button and select the "Renewing Green Roof Professional" option.

Alternately, a hard copy renewal form may be completed and faxed or mailed back to GRHC along with payment.

For more information on membership, please see www.greenroofs.org/membership.

Obtaining Continuing Education Units

In order to maintain accredited status, GRPs must obtain 16 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within two years of the date they wrote the exam, and every two years after that.

A minimum number of eight CEUs must be acquired via GRHC related activities (e.g. conferences, symposiums, workshops, courses) while the remaining 8 CEUs can be acquired via external programs provided they are related to one or more aspects of green roof design, installation, or maintenance. In general, one CEU is equivalent to one hour of learning.

Types of activities which may qualify for CEUs include:

  • Conferences
  • Workshops
  • Information Sessions
  • Courses (online or in person)
  • Webinars
  • Published articles (1 CEU)
  • Presentations (1 CEU per hour)

For a list of upcoming GRHC events which may qualify for CEUs, see Upcoming Events page.

Reporting Continuing Education Units

All CEUs must be self-reported using the Member Options tab in the Member Login section of the GRHC website. Member Login can be accessed via the Member Login button (located at the top-right of the site's home page). Once logged in, select the Member Options tab and scroll down to the For GRPs Only section to download the GRP Credit Submission Sheet to record CEUs. If you are unable to login, contact Membership Coordinator Blaine Stand at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or 416-971-4494 ex. 223.

Member Profiles will be audited to ensure compliance with these guidelines. Any credits being claimed that appear to fall outside the scope of the requirements described above will be forwarded to our Training and Accreditation Director for review.

There will be a grace period of 3 months for reporting CEUs following each two-year submission span. If CEUs are not self-reported by the end of the 3 month period then the GRP credential will not be renewed without paying a $200 penalty.

If an excess of CEUs are accumulated in the two-year period, up to 50% (8 CEUs) can be carried forward into the next two-year period.
